• Volunteers Needed for Open Streets Planning
    • Open Streets brings together citizens, community groups, and local businesses to temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic on a Sunday afternoon, and open them up for people walking, biking, skating, scootering, and playing.
    • Paths for People is seeking volunteers who are interested in helping plan and organize Edmonton’s first Open Streets series next year. We are looking for passionate advocates for active transportation and healthy living who are willing to donate some of their time over the next year.  In particular, we are in need of people with experience in event planning, sponsorship, promotion, volunteer organizing, and relationship-building with community partners. But such experience is not mandatory. General enthusiasm goes a long way too!
    • If you’re interested in joining the Open Streets team, please contact Dave Buchanan at dave@pathsforpeople.org
  • App Developer(s)
    • Wouldn’t it be cool to know the patterns of people walking and biking around Edmonton? Paths for People would like to gather (anonymous) data about our members’ movements, and what types of movements people are making using active transportation.
    • We’re seeking an app developer to create a Paths for People-branded app that interfaces with the Moves App. The app would connect with Moves and report the (anonymized) data to us and perhaps to a public interface. This data would help us better understand how people move around Edmonton, and help us to receive grants that require measuring the results of various infrastructure changes.
